My Universal Shock Therapy Review: Pre-Workout Power
Servings: 50
Flavor: Fruit Punch Kicker
Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, add 1 scoop of Shock Therapy™ to 8-10 oz of cold liquid. Take one serving 30 minutes pre-workout. You can also use Shock Therapy™ in combination with Storm™. Take 1 scoop of Storm™ 15-20 minutes post-workout.
Taste / Flavor : The flavor reminds me that of ICE, but not as strong. I used 16 oz of water and that seemed to work well. Taste is ok, I can't really describe it, but it is non-offensive.
Effects : The only pre-workout products I have used are Energized Xpand and Cre-Ethyl Thunder (included because of its caffeine content), so I could only compare Shock Therapy to those two. First of all, it did not disturb my stomach as much as Xpand did, which was almost to the point of sabotaging my post-workout meal, so this is a plus. Focus and energy were better than those experienced while on Xpand, which were minimal to non-existent at times, but not significantly different from those obtained by CET. One thing to keep in mind is that I am the proverbial creatine non-responder, although I seem to somewhat benefit from CEE but not Tricreatine Malate. Also, I repsond very poorly to most stimulants. Lastly, I haven't used any NO products to compare the pumps, but they were decent (not that I care about the pump anyway). Given all those circumstances, I would rate Shock Therapy as a potentially very decent product.
Price / Ingredients: That's the reason I bought it in the first place. For about $0.60 per serving depending on where you buy, you get most of the ingredients found in products typically more expensive on a per serving basis. To me personally, just the antioxidants and the nootropics justify the purchase. However, I would include 3 g of ALCAR in the mix, but more on that later. Overall, the price is decent.
Based on all of the above, I would recommend Shock Therapy to those looking for a new pre-workout product. It would be interesting to see how it compares to NO-Xplode, Supercharge etc. since the price difference could be a concern for most. Universal recommends stacking it with Storm (of course!), which would be quite cheap, but there should be some synergy with the other Magnesium Creatine Chelate products on the market: Green Bulge is the first one that comes to mind.
